Have you been dismissed from a job?

My cousin who holds a university degree and is one of the most intelligent women I know has been sacked from lots of jobs. She tried administration work through an agency, but was dismissed on numerous occasions for being incompetent. Yet, I don't understand because she is very intellectual and well read. I have the most intelligent discussions with her. I must add that she has suffered from depression. However, I don't know how to advise her when she asks what is wrong. Anyone out there got any advice?
