Yes, I have done this several times, It is not good to do. I even feel to sleep at the wheel. a few times,. I know that is dangerous, I didn't do it on purpose, it just happen, but by the Grace of God, I made it whereever I was going safely. Have you ever fell assleep and the wheel? Driving Drowsy is like driving drunk you agree? I hope no one does that, but I know it has happen to some people not intentionly.

Scaringly, yes. I was coming home from a yearly day trip and on the 15 interstate north and at the intersection of the 15 nad the 215 (I was to stay on the 15, but fell asleep before I got there. IT is odd as to stay ON the 15 you have to kind of take the ramp and the 215 is the one that stays straight. But I woke and didn't even know I had fell asleep and was looking at the freeway, and didn't even know I had done it until I told myself "okay, that interchanged is coming up and I knowI have to be in the left lane to merg to the right to stay on 15" ....took me awhile to figure out what had happened and then I just scared myself into total awareness!!! I must have slept for about 10 minutes at least - I think my conscious slept, but sub conscious didnt' and thanks to God, I didnt' crash!

First chance I got to get off the interstate I did and just sat there! Days later I still thought about it and couldn't believe it actually happened.

I've driven drowsy but when I get to the point where I'm scared I'll fall asleep (usually this is after I've flown home and couldn't find a hotel to stay in) I'll pull over to the side of the road for a nap. I'd hate to have an accident because I fell asleep.

That is the thing to do, pull over and get some sleep, or just wait till your wide a woke.

GGrrrr My husband has done this several times over the yrs and actually its one of my big concerns to be honest with you...I dont drive myself (yet) so its not happened to me but if I did drive and was THAT tired I'd probably either take a nap before getting behind the wheel OR if already on the road I'd pull over somewhere and get some shut eye

I have never driven a car, so don't have this problem. My step dad did once though, and being a top scientist, you'd think he'd know better but no. He drove home from a conference once, fell asleep at the wheel and then spent a fair amount of time walking through cattle paddocks trying to work out where on earth he was. I don't think my mum was terribly impressed either, as it meant they had no car for about 6 weeks!!! Driving when tired is the same as driving when drunk Reactions times are slowed right down and distance and speed perceptions are not the same either.

I am very careful not to drive when so tired, I have a sister who has fallen asleep several times in her car, after a few trips in the ditch , she learned to pull over at a wayside rest, or catch a nap at a friends before she returned home. She worked the grave yard shift, so she would often go do chores ect.. before going home. But once I heard her stories , I thought nope I will make sure not to ever do that. I was so happy she learned her lessons without getting hurt. Scary, sleeping at the wheel.
