What's the one spice you can't live with out?

If you could only keep one spice out of your cabinet which would it be? Mne would probably be my seasoned salt, it works on a lot of different meats. Though cinnamon would be a close second as I use it all of the time for so many different things. I even put a couple of shakes into a pot of boiling water as a cheap smell pretty for the house. So what would you choose?

Paprika I can't live without. I use it in so many things, as it adds a great, rich flavour to many sauces. It can also be sprinkled on meat or fish before cooking, and adds a lovely tang to the finished article.

Try toasting Papricka in a warm skillet for a few minutes before using it... You'll be surprised at the intensity of this wonderful spice when you warm it up! :)

You know i have never used paprika on anything (unless the recipe called for it) besides my deviled eggs. I would love to get a few ideas or recipes from you.

The one spice I can't live without is accent, it supposed to bring out the flavor in meats so I use it for lots of things, sauces, meats etc. I use other seasonings too and always replenish but accent is like a necessity to me.

Before you do that I wanted to let you know that another MyLot member who never heard of it, looked it up and said that it was MSG so before buying it and using it your food you probably should look at the ingredients and check it out on the internet before eating. I'm reconsidering this also as I had no idea what was in it. Just wanted to let you know. Take care.

probably pepper. I find most things have enough salt on them already, but I really like my pepper shaker and put pepper on alot of things. It is a delicious spice and i couldnt do without it.

I absolutely love a little spice so outside of salt & pepper I could not live without cumin! Man I love that spice! It's so great on Mexican dishes and really anything spicy! If I had to pick a liquid I would pick Worstershire sauce... I also cook with that often for my meats!

That is funny! At least your husband cooks! I do have to give mine credit though - he is trying to do a lot more lately. He's been watching the Food Network and paying more attention when I cook and then experimenting with his own dishes... it's cute though.

My hubby uses Worcestershire sauce on a lot of stuff too. I stay away not because I don't like it but because every time I use it he gets this evil grin and asks me what I used. He thinks it's soooooo funny that I can't sat Worcestershire.

Now that sounds interesting. Do you have a particular food that you suggest I try that on?

I enjoy a spice called Adobo which is a mixture of garlic, onion, salt, pepper, and parsley or basil... It goes with everything that I can think of! :)
