One of the highlights of my trip was visiting Tombstone...the old silver mining town that turned into a haven for many of the old outlaws that haunted the west back in the 1800's. Most of the town has been left with the origional buildings and features from when it was a boom town during the silver rush. There was much to see and do and we spent the best part of a day here. Pictured is Big Nose Kate's saloon where country singers blare out wonderful country music. A shuttle has been added in the last few years to take you on a small tour of the town...the mine...and boot hill the famous cemetary. It was well worth the drive to see this town of yester year!

I enjoyed Arizona when I visted there several years ago. We went to the Grand Canyon of course. and the Painted Desert. We also went to Tucson and the Sonora Desert museum. It was fun driving around dusty southwes towns like Nothing Arizona population 4 and thru dry river beds.

I know that was out of this world, going to Tombstone. The movie was great and I know that it has to be nice just to see something from the old west still standing. I sometimes wonder if the movies that they make now are done in some of those old places that they have westerns know for? Have a good one.

My, but that does sound wonderful. I am not much of a history lover, but I really think that I would like to see such as what you describe. Sounds like you had a great time while you were there. Did you take any photos?

Wow that must have been so good to take a trip back in time like that. I used to love watching westerns as a child, it always seemed so exciting, even though sometimes dangerous. Americas is just so vast, I have only ever visited once and that was on business to LA so I haven't got to experience the real country yet. Ellie :D

I use to dream about going to one of these towns when i was a child. I began reading Louis Lamour when i was 9 y/o and was always fascinated by the places he wrote about, and to be really honest i still am facinated!

It is fascinating....the first time we went to Colossal Caves...that's where all the bank robbers etc hid their gold they stole from banks etc. They say there are millions of dollars worth of gold still hidden in the caves! In Tombstone they all walk around in cowboy outfits....and have great shows to see too!
