How come some people fall in poop and come out of it smelling like roses?

I am so lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky - Lets see if he knows how lucky he is!

Have you ever heard this saying before? My Dad uses this one a lot, but I have heard others using it too. Now yesterday I told you all about my son, 16, now I have told a few tales about my boy and none of them really inspiring. But I just thought I would tell you this one as it follows on from the discussion that I did yesterday and is pretty unbelievable. Link to said discussion below:- http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1567167.aspx Now he went into the bank today and had a word with the manager about his account, and he came home and I asked him what had been said and he told me that it was "all sorted and that the bank were going to wipe the debt and would bring his account back into order for him by tomorrow". All he has to do is too make sure it does not happen again!I said "you jammy little ....." (jammy is another word for lucky by the way) I said "how on earth do you keep getting away with it all"He does as well, through everything, everytime he falls in poop he comes out of it smelling like roses. I did warn him though that luck has a nasty habit of running out and that when it does run out it may not come back for some time! I also told him that he has another chance now to get it right and hopefully with my help he will turn it around.*on my knees pleading* PLEASE PLEASE. So have you heard of this saying? Does it apply to anyone you know? And do you think that my boy will sort himself out or carry on giving me frustrating discussions to post?

I have known a few people like that but it doesn't apply to me.. I don't even have to fall in it to come out smelling like it.. I am like the old song on the old TV show, "Hee Haw".. If it weren't for bad luck I would have no luck at all, gloom, despair and agony on me.. I do sit open mouthed when I hear of stories like this and I think to myself, the same thing happened to me and it never went this well.. Oh well, when his luck runs out, it may be my turn, heehee.. Keep him around as he does make for interesting discussions..

coincidentally.. the uruk hai... my eldest, has the same stream of luck. just as i think something will slap her with a little reality and she will learn a lsson.. it swerves past her head and misses and she never even falters. example.. she refused to do any chores around here.. refused to get a summerjob.. i told her that if she wasnt going to do anything all summer long.. i wasnt going to pay for her school bus fees and shed wind up walking to school unless she got off her butt and earned the money she needed for her pass. she blew me off.. when time came to need to get a pass i told her to go to the town hall and see if theyd let her get it on installments and shed best get a job. so she went to town hall... and lo and behold.. her name was drawn in a lottery to get a freebie pass for the year and she wound up not having to pay for it!! and yes, ive heard the saying.. with a twist. as you know, my husband wasnt very wellliked when we got together.. now tho, they all seem to want a peice of him.. or of his income as it were.. something said a while back about how id "stepped in sh|t that turned to gold" not very fond of the saying myself.. or of the people saying it.

Yep that is about as typical as my sons luck, I mean how will they learn a lesson if they seem to have a protector like that to help them out. How is that fair? That is not very nice what was said to you, I used it on my son yesterday but only in jest, he knows that I love him no matter how much of a silly billie he is.

Gemeni, I have always heard this saying too. i am very happy that your son, has been very lucky so far in his life and hope he continues to be so. I hope he has learned his lesson this time and will be more responsiable with his money. As they always say boys will be boys!!I do know beople that have been very lucky all of their life, seems like everything seems to go their way no matter what. not me though, I have the worst luck of anyone, it seems.

Hi Gemin_rose, I am actually pleased for hi that he got these charges wiped and in the discussion actually suggested that he do this and now he hasn't to worry over the £72 he can repay you for bailing him out with the £100 when he gets paid can't he. Some people have this uncanny knack for being up to come up smelling of rose I agree, a friend of mine always used to and it was just so annoying at times. I am sure with guidance now and him having taken the responsibilty to go talk to the bank in the first place he will turn his attitude to money around. Ellie :D

Hi Gemini_rose. Teenagers are always a worry to us mums and dads too eh! I have experienced two already and it is not always easy, they think they are all grown up but aren't really and the people they don't listen to at that age are their parents. I can relate as only a couple of years ago I was dealing with the terrible twos at the same time as having teenage energy in the home. Hardwork but very rewarding in the longterm eh! Ellie :D

Please don't get me wrong, of course I am pleased for him! Of course I am, I just have to laugh at this uncanny knack he has of getting away with everything! I just hope that I can sort him out now.

LOL! My hubby is sort of lucky like that. He has a tendency to have things just work out for him. I tell him he must have a four leaf clover up his butt he tends to be so lucky! LOL! And, I think that I have heard that saying before but, I prefer mine! LOL! It is gross but, people seem to understand it! LOL! As far as your son, he may sort himself out but, he is still fairly young so, it may be a while and, he will likely continue to give you more things to talk about here! Try to remember what you were like when you were his age! I was a good kid but, I still gave my Mom and Dad some frustrations. LOL!

When I was his age, I was already on my way towards big trouble. I always say that this is why people should heed the saying of "what goes around comes around" or something like that.

I don't think that I know any one to whom that applies most of the time, but I have seen it in effect with different people in different situations. I think that there may even have been a couple of times when I ended up falling in poop and smelling like roses.

Because he is young and obviously is a bit of a go-getter...I think he is "open to receive" the abundance that life has to offer. There's no such thing as luck....we create the things that happen to us. He will probably continue to go on as he is now....and that's a good thing and something for you to encourage....but encourage the positives. Forget the negative aspects...give the positive things all your energy. This will help your son be successful. You've done a great job with him.

I had never heard of this particular saying before but I imagine it does fit some people. I am not one however I have to pay for my own mistakes. It doesnt apply to'anyone that I know. I think perhaps your son will now sort' himself out and become more of an adult, at least I sure hope so. lol.

Well lets hope and pray that hes learnt his lesson from this ,none of us want to ever see our kids go through any hardship ,but sometimes its put there to toughen them up a little. The bank manager was very lenient in his approach .lol i bet had it been me or you we would have had to grovel and beg for mercy!!!but I just sincerely hope that the bank manager has indeed acted in your sons best interests and that your son will be aware how lucky he was.
