i feel bad

the other night my upstairs neighbor got robbed. the reason i feel bad is becuase the whole time she was getting robbed i was at home. this is what happened........
I was at home and i heard someone knocking but i couldnt tell where it ws coming from i thoughtit was my son, and i actually heard the knocking twice. Then after the knocking i heard some rumbling outside her door upstairs, now this time i peeked outside the door becuase it sounded like someone had fallen down the stairs but at that time all of sudden the noise stopped, and as i was closing my door i heard their door opening. It wasnt until i was walking my mom outside about an hour later when my neghbor asked me if i had heard anything coming from her apartment because when she got home her door was halfway open and it looked like whoever it was just rambled through some stuff. Luckily they didnt steal anything. But I felt bad thinking back to all the noise i heard earlier and i thought about what would have happen if the robber would have saw me see him. Would he have tried to do something to me? All i know is that i feel bad for my neighbor and i feel scared for me and my kids that is just too close to home. Would you be scared? Would you feel bad you didnt do anything?

That is so awful! I think I would be scared about someone breaking in not if they seen me or not. I don't think I would feel bad since you didn't know what was going on. I would feel bad if I just watched and didn't do anything about the event. Before the economy got so bad here I hardly ever locked my doors or at least I did when I thought about it and I live in a large city. I hope everything is ok with you and you don't get broken into.

sorry for the late response i have just gotten back into mylot. And you are very welcome. and would you believe that the following week my apartment was broken into by the same person. and because the person was in my house right at the time my mom was coming into my apartment to get something for my little one. they didnt get hurt but i am grateful she was going over there because if she hadnt gone over there to get something he probably would have taken all of our electronics which he had unplugged and packed but when he heard my mom trying to come through the front door he just took off with my laptop over the patio fence. and in the process he ran past my mother who was able to get a good look at his face and later was able to identify him in a line up.
