I read most of her books when I was a girl She was born in south London at hte end of of the 19th Century. She could scribble a whole book in five days. No wonder she penned more than 700 books in her lifetime! She sold over 400million copies around the world. She based George, a tomboy (From the Famous Five) who is really called Georgina, on herself. She also wrote exactly around 10,0001 short stories. I am now reading her stories to my children

Thanks for that tidbit about Enid Blyton. I enjoyed her books, too, when I was much younger. And it's quite surprising that they aren't as popular now as they were before. Next to Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books, I always looked forward to her stories, particularly the Famous Five and the Secret Seven series. It's amazing the variety of books written by Enid Blyton and I truly hope kids nowadays will discover and enjoy them as well.

Hi.....I was an Enid Blyton storybook reader too in my schooling days. Until today I still like the Famous Five series. And gosh to compare the price of the books now and last time......the prices have gone up tremendously.

I read a lot of her stuff when I was young, although her books don't seem as popular at the moment as they used to be.
