LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A woman who says she was hurt by her thong panties when a metal clip flew off and hit her in the eye has sued Victoria's Secret, saying in a TV interview on Thursday that the injury caused her "excruciating pain." Macrida Patterson, a 52-year-old Los Angeles traffic officer, told NBC's "Today" show that she suffered cuts to her cornea from the small piece of metal that had been used to secure a rhinestone heart onto the blue thong. "I was putting on my underwear from Victoria's Secret and the metal popped in my eye. It happened really quickly. I was in excruciating pain. I screamed. That's what happened," Patterson told NBC. Patterson's lawyer Jason Buccat, who also appeared on the "Today" show, said the metal staple causes "severe damage" to her cornea that required a topical steroid. The product liability lawsuit, which was filed on June 9 in Los Angeles Superior Court and first reported on the Smoking Gun Web site, seeks unspecified damages. A spokeswoman for Victoria's Secret, which is operated by Limited Brands Inc, could not immediately be reached for comment. Have you ever had a accident like this?

I am a man so i never had and never will have and accident like this. Thank God I dont have to worry about these things. One thing I will say is when I was last in the states and spent to much money on Victoria Secret Gifts in noticed they where made in Mexico. For the price they charge for there appearal in the states and what they pay the mexican worker to make it. They can sure afford to pay a law suit. Maybe if they paid the people who actually pruduce the wears a bit more the Quality and craftsmanship might be better. Maybe the secrete behind Vic's Secrete is Better wear safety glasses.

LMAO No I haven't and I just can't believe that she did. I have to say thank you for this great laugh! Great now my panties will have a warning label in them! I can just see it now Caution these may cause serious injury if you do not wear the correct size! LOL

LOL I think panties and jeans should come with warning labels telling the person wearing them to wear their own size wearing too small of panties or jeans will cause medical conditions AND it just doesn't look right LOL. Thanks for commenting

This is another tragic case. I wonder how the court has accepted to hear this case in the first place. Are there many unemployed lawyers in US who are ready to take a trivial case such as this?

I saw the interview yesterday morning on the Today show and have to say this..........it's a bunch of BS !!!!!!!!!!!! That woman looked a bit large, probably bought a small thong and it broke under the stress of trying to stretch it over her quite sizable rear end! What an embarrasement to our nation these nonsense law suits and shame on that attorney and any attorney that would take on a case such as this.

I agree there are far more important things that our courts could be taking care of instead of petty stuff like this. She either needs to lose weight or get a bigger thong. Thanks for commenting

I have never had a problem with VS. This case is almost as stupid as the woman suing McDonalds for the burning hot coffee she spilled in her lap. Maybe Patterson needed a bigger size thong?!
