TV Villains We Love to Hate

Over the years I've seen many TV villains come and go. Some of them have been so dastardly that there was no hope of redemption for them. Others we have grown to love in spite of their misbehavior.
I would like to know who is your favorite TV villain of all time? I have narrowed my choices down to J.R. Ewing of Dallas fame or Spike, the vampire from Angel. Now it's your turn.

Hard to top the king, J.R. Ewing. He was such a b*stard but he did love his father and sons. All the others are from daytime soaps like Alan Spaulding of Guilding Light,Stefano of Days Of Our Lives, Lucinda Walsh of As The World Turns and the most evil during the time I was watching was James Stenback.I was seeing J.R. at night and his evil twin James during the day.whatever J.r. did, James could do and worse.

You really take me back, sarah! I also remember Spaulding, Walsh, and Stenback, who was a real *sshole.

I remember them too back from when I was a kid! Stenbeck was so handsome but such an as*h**le! And then there was Alan Spaulding! I stopped watching such a long time ago - what happened to Alan Spaulding or is he still on Guiding Light? I haven't watched soaps in like 20 years now! I used to watch them with my mom back in the days when people only had 1 television.

Well, jer, we sort of knew the friendship wouldn't stand the test of time.
Lex is quite the villain though.

I have come to enjoy the bad boys of LOST. They really have a way of getting under your skin. Sawyer has a dark side, but he also has a side that is caring compassionate. John is odd and has shown a dark side that makes you wonder. And lets not forget about Ben. What is up with him?

Back when I used to watch Lost, Elusive, I had grown to like Sawyer as more of what led up to his character was revealed. I finally gave up on the series when they kept interrupting the shows.

How could you not love Spike. I was glad they made him a good guy in the end. But they never took away that sexy bad boy image he just worked for the good guys. I miss that show.

And so do I, minnie! I was also happy when they turned him to Good Spike.

My husband's favorite movie of all time is called "The Villain" with Kirk Douglas, as the villain, Arnold Schwarzenegger as "the handsome stranger" and a bunch of others. Kirk was a very likable villain.
I don't have a favorite villain myself, but I always liked Spike and was routing for him when he was with Buffy for that time.

I guess it's a toss-up, whittby, between J.R. and Spike, two of the best-or worst!

Spike is a favourite of mine as well and I have to admit that whenever I see him playing other roles, I miss the accent.
I also liked Cole, from Charmed (played by Julian McMahon).

It does seem strange to hear him speaking without the accent, kriszelunka, and I miss the blond hair also. I think it heightened his appeal.

I loved Boris Karloff, carolbee, and his granddaughter was interviewed last year on a radio talk show speaking of his many movies.

yeah I remember J.R from Dallas he was something. I think my favorite is Jack Nicholos. He has played the villain in quite a few movies. The Shining and Batman with Micheal Keenton. Jack Nicholson played the joker. He did such a great job and in The Shining he was pretty creepy also.

You're absolutely right, Shaun. Nicholson makes a very good villain.

This one's so easy...Blackadder. J.R. is an obvious choice and I was just getting into Angel and finding out who was who when it finished, that was several years ago. I'm sure there were others but I can't remeber them. I'm thinkig of the early Superman and Batman series.

I would totally have to agree with Spike. I loved Buffy and was so happy when they finally realized the chemistry between Buffy and Spike. I loved how how they redeemed his character but always stay trued to his villainous side. When Buffy was cancelled and he joined the cast of Angel, his badness perfectly foiled Angel's goodness. Spike was just a joy to watch. But it's true that he just isn't the same without his Captain Platinum hair and brit accent. I didn't especially like his character on Smallville. He didn't have the same edge that his Spike character had. It probably isn't James Marsters' fault though - the Smallville writers were terrible.
