When you have a family get together whose house does everyone go to and who does the planning? I have a huge family and even though my house is not that big it is always at my house and I always have to do the planning. Is it like that in your family? Or does everyone take turns?

My husband's family has a get together every Labor Day. It is a very large family and we usually have it at the local church in their fellowship hall. Some of the family goes there,so it is easy to use. Everybody brings lunch and we spread it on the tables and eat like we were at home, enjoying everybody's food. That way,the only planning is what you will cook and what time the gathering will be. We all pitch in and clean up the fellowship hall afterwards. And an offering is always taken up to help pay for the utilities we used during the day. My family used to get together at my parents on every holiday. And each family (3 children) got together and decided what we were bringing and what Mother would supply. Then all of us would gather there and eat. We no longer do that since my Mother is 91. We usually cook and invite her to our individual homes.

That is a great family tradition ....and everyone shares responsibility for the gathering. It sounds like a wonderful time. Wow...your mom is 91...amazing. Thanks for sharing.
