Your mouth, more than any outward part of your body, speaks volumes about your well-being. Here’s what the state of your teeth and tongue can tell you . . . Traditional Chinese medicine uses the tongue for most diagnoses. If it looks quite fat, you could have an overactive thyroid. A beefy, red tongue may point to anemia. Bumps that look like small hairs? Better work on your dental hygiene. Blisters? Might be a drug reaction.Red, swollen, bleeding gums signal gingivitis, an early form of periodontal disease. And gum disease has been linked to a host of other health problems, from heart attacks to erectile dysfunction. Here’s why: Gum-invading bacteria may trigger an immune response that promotes bodywide inflammation and arterial hardening, which restricts blood flow... i really dont know if its true or what..but still i try opening my mouth and check it out...will you do the same? (from the excerpts of real age)

hi vanities! i have really been concerned with dental health. a regular visit to the dentist is usually in check for me. anyway, i had been busy so my visit to the dentist is overdue. hopefully i can do it next week. the weather has been bad, too. but still i hope i can get to visit my dentist. i get regular cleaning, especially for the removal of tartar. despite regular brushing, up to 4 times a day, and flossing, too, i still get cavities. so i can only imagine those who don't. lol good day and God bless you! :)

I believe the things you can see from the outside speak volumes about what's going on in the inside. I miss the days when it was part of every doctor's visit to look in your ears, mouth, eyes, and nose on every visit. Accupuncturists usually do. They also check your nailbeds and look for other visable clues to health. For instance, I just got over poisen oak and the medicine gave me thrush, visable in my mouth, on my throat and tongue as raw patches that are quite painful. If I would have realized that I could get that, I would have been taking extra vitamins to avoid immunity malfunctions caused by the cure to my ailment.

Wow! THat just about covers everything doesn't it.....I know that some of it's true. I also had a doctor once look my hands over good and tell me that I was just fine. I never asked him what he was looking for but whatever it was he didn't find anything wrong and I truly was just fine!

vanities I really leave allthat up to my doctor as I trust his judgment fully. he has not let me down yet so I keep going. I have checked my own tongue and found nothing abnormal at all. leave it to my doctor.

I wish I could print this and see for myself tomorrow. But I don't have a printer. I want to see about the thyroid and the anemia. These chinese are very good when it comes to these things. Thanks again vanities for this educated piece.

Very interesting. I think the chinese and native Americans know a lot more than modern medicine about health Maintenance.
