John Deere LX277 speed governor/reverse switch

I have owned this tractor for a few years and it has proven to be well worth it's money. Two questions,1) Is there a way to disconnect the reverse switch that needs to be held to go into reverse, and 2)Can the speed governor be adjusted to get a bit more speed? I hate the fact that the basic consumer models are quicker....
