Man versus Horse Marathon

More than 25 years that dispute a strange marathon called "Man versus Horse Marathon" and I have notice only read the news today that edition of this year was won by the horse "Dukes Touch of Fun" and the second place has placed a young doctor of London, John McFarlane, who beat not only all the others runners humans, but also the other 45 horses in the race.
This race takes place from 1980 in the town of Llanwrtyd Wells in Wales and was invented by a certain Gordon, local landowner.
The marathon is taking place at a distance of 35 that "Dukes Touch of Fun", mounted by a jockey named Geroge, has travelled in 2 hours 18 minutes and 13 seconds while the secon classified, Jonh McFarlane, came only 30 seconds after.
The news at first sight may be strange but I think that around the world perhaps there are other races of this type.
Some of you with his knowledge? Maybe runs betwesn humans and other animals, not only horses?
