Hello Friends I just watched "Home of The Brave" last night and am still thinking about it. What kind of country are we that we keep sending some mother's child off to do unspeakable things in the name of 'for your country' and then we have the nerve to expect that they will return to home and hearth and be the unchanged person that left! As a teen and young adult I was very active in passive protest against war, poverty, environmental issues. Did I wear our my shoes and pour out my heart to an empty theater? Was it all for nothing? Will it ever stop? Is man doomed to be always at some kind of war? Is it what we are about? See the movie..tissues in hand.. I hate war but I respect the soldier! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

I also hate war, but respect our soldiers. I don't believe it will ever stop, there has always been fighting and killing going on. OIur men and women cna't and don't come back unchanged. They see too much for it not to affect them and wear on them. I long for PEACE!! We are all people, we have families, we are all the same. We might be different in some ways, but when it comes down to it, we are still just people who have feelings too.

I'm sure I saw that movie years ago but I can't remember too much about it, but I still understand what you're getting at here, Raydene. We're of the same generation and I was like you as a teen and young adult and I often wonder the same thing - was our passion all for nothing? Right now I've got two nephews in Afghanistan and I now understand those who have said they're afraid to watch the news whenever they mention the wars. These are two young men who I still picture as innocent and incredibly cute little boys! I know that even if we're blessed with the wonderful fortune of having them both come home with no physical injuries they still will NOT be the same boys they were when they left. How could they be? How could you or I or anyone else who has never experienced the horrors of war possibly comprehend what they're going through this very minute? Will it ever stop, indeed! I feel exactly as you do - I also hate war but I respect and support our soldiers with all my heart. Annie

Thank you so much for the BR, Hon. Right now at this moment my one nephew is home on leave for two weeks but the other one chose not to come now, saying he'd rather get it over with and come home to stay when his time is in. The bad thing is whenever I hear of something happening over there I go nuts not knowing if he's OK. Annie

I hate war too and feel bad about our young people being over there, away from family and friends.I appreciate what they do for us, but I'm sure they would rather be home
