Are Cats Really Noisy During Mating Season?

For 3 days now, cats from my neighbor's backyard and those from the other streets are very noisy? it's keeping me and the baby awake at night. When the neighbor's cat wail or moan or whatever you call it, others will follow. It's annoying me because I haven't had a good night sleep for a few days now. i shoo them and they would stop, but just for awhile. Then, they will start again. My friend said it's because it's mating season and i cant do anything about it. I have nothing against cats but for those of you who are cat lovers, is there any truth to this? Is there something I can do to make them stop?

Ohhh.. I just saw this discussion today. Very true! My room is adjacent to our garage roof and our cats and their 'boyfriends' visit them at night. I can't figure out when they mate but they sure are real noisy and they're just a few feet away from my window! I tried to shoo them as well flash some light at them. But they would keep quiet for a bit and then start again. It's real annoying sometimes and you just ask yourself what can I do to have a good night sleep? They really take 'go ahead and multiply' literally.

that was really their intention..to propagate their species, so they can disturb some people who can't take their noises..thanks for dropping by...

Your friend is right I'm afraid. All you can do is complain to the owner and hope they'll get them fixed. When one of my girls first went into heat, before we got her fixed, the noise was awful. She yowled like a dying seal. It was horrid! I'm sorry you have to put up with this. I hope they quieten down soon.

I dont hate cats but I don't wanna have one either for health purposes. It's been raining here for a few days now, so I guess that kinda stopped them from flirting...thanks..

Cold water or a size 12 shoe would make them stop. I prefer rabbits during mating season, its quieter because they have cotton balls. :)

Yes, it's a mating song! I don't know why people don't get their cats neutered! Male cats that aren't neutered roam around, get in fights, make all sorts of noise and are not nice pets. If you are desperate enough you could get a trap from animal control (if you have that in your area) and trap the Tom. Around here if animal control picks up someone's pet and it has not been fixed, they require the owner to get the pet fixed or pay a court fine.

So, that's their song!! Funny how they flirt and court...No, I don't wanna go to the extent of having the animal control pick them up..If that's their nature's way to mate, so be it...I'll leave them alone and just put earplugs in my ears next time..thanks for the info..

Yes, this is true as far as i know. What a sound huh? Sometimes it sounds like something out of a horror movie. I know cats do not like water. Rain on their parade. If you can spray them with water might cause them to go somewhere else. Ear plugs might work as well. This is nerve racking thats for sure.

During this season cats are really noisy, haha! But I enjoy the sounds they make! It's funny! They sound like they're talking, having a conversation, getting angry, fighting ... They don't bother me at all. And I don't thing there's a way to stop them. Maybe just shoe them, but they'll go somewhere else and soon be near again.
