Blisters--lance them, or leave them be?

I ended up with three blisters after my friends' wedding yesterday--two on my feet, from wearing shoes with no socks, and one on my BACK, where my strapless bra must have pinched or rubbed my skin strangely. At any rate, I need to figure out if I should just let them burst on their own, or lance them and drain them. This is somewhat complicated by the fact that I'm getting ready to go on a week long trip for work, so if I'm going to lance them, it has to be today!

A blister is not that bad if you burst them and put some antibiotic on them after you have burst and drained them. I don't know anything about that lance but if you decide to do that I guess it's ok. But me I would burst an drain, after that antibiotic or neosporin on it. It might burn a little but that should work fine. Have a nice day.

By lancing, I mean bursting--lancing is just the way my fiance says it. :)

Okay, conventional wisom is that lancing and draining creates an open spot and can lead to infection while if you just cover them and let them be, the body reabsorbs the irritation and you heal faster. But personally, especially the one on your back, I'd take care of now while you have J there to help you. Lance it, cover it with anti-biotic ointment and a band aid and it should feel better. Where are you going?

Yeah, I think the two on my feet won't be so bad--they already seem to be just melting into callouses instead of blisters. But the one on my back, I think we're going to have to take care of today. I'm going to the D.C. area. :) Not actually in D.C., though, so I doubt I'll get to go see the stuff I want to see, unless one of my D.C. area friends decides to come get me and drive me around one night. :)

I got a blister on my index finger from a burn, it got really big and i left it for as long as I could but after about 6 days it still hadn't burst on it's own so I burst it. I play the piano and it was really effecting that so i had to do something. It's best to just let them burst on their own if you can I think as the fluid is protecting the skin underneath so if you possibly can I'd leave them.

My only fear is that they will burst at a point where I can't do anything to clean them up right away--like on the plane, or in the middle of the day. :( But I suspect that leaving them alone is probably better for them.
