Ever Taken Keflex? What Were Your Side Effects?

I was prescribed Keflex to get rid of an infection in my finger. My husband just warned me that I'd proably be a "b*tch on wheels" if I took that stuff. He has a sense of humour, and I love him for that. Yep, moodswings. I've decided to stay away rom any human being who will bug me, for the next week or so, until I'm off of this stuff. I'm lucky that I am able to identiy a mood change in mysel, and then deal with it, instead of just reacting. Anyone else experienced side effects from this stuf? Which ones have you experienced?

I had a really bad reaction to the medication and ended up in the hospital. I was in for 5 days while they tried to stablize me. I don't think that the list of side effect that I experienced would help you since I had such a sever reaction. Hope everything goes well for you though. It looks as if you aren't doing too bad unless of course you are doing this from a hospital bed . Good Luck!

I have never known Keflex to cause mood swings. I know it's used as an antibiotic and I was given it one time for resperatory tract infection and it nearly killed me. It is actually from the penicillin family and my doctor took the chance knowing I was allergic to penicillin, thinking I may be able to take it anyway and no I can not go near anything from the penicillion family. Anyone with gastrointestinal disease should also NOT take it. I'm sending you this info it may help you. Thank You. Hi danish, I don't need medication to be a b@itch on wheels. My family provide that for me. They don't do a darn thing and they wonder why I get so b*itchy. Is there anything you can take so that you don't have to be that way?

Kalee, that's funny. So far I'm doing what I usually do to relax, living in the coffee shop up the street where nobody can find me and annoy me. Tank God I'm only on these things for a week.

Personally, I feel this medication is overused as well as many of the other Lower form antibiotics out there, and no one ever seems to make mention of all of the complications resulting from these meds, until something drastic happens for people to take notice. Personally this medication does not do much for me anymore since I have taken it so often. I have never noticed if this or any other Antibiotic out there like this has done that for me. Interesting thoughts though.

I really like Keflex. It has not given me any great side effects. All i have noticed is that it is a good medicine to get rid of infectins that I have had.

I took it and found that I was either allergic or had intolerance for it. My breathing was not the same. I did not notice any mood swings, but then I was off of it pretty quickly.

Yes, I've had to take that foul demon Keflex, but for a totally different reason, and a totally different side effect as well, let me explain. During my first pregnancy I was hospitalized for a week because of a very bad bladder infection that caused my temperature to go off the chart. They did get it back down, but told me I would have to take keflex for the remainder of the pregnancy to make sure it didn't happen again. I thought things would be alright, so I got the prescription and started taking it every day. I ended up taking it for about two months, but the bad part about it was I kept getting yeast infections. Its already uncomfortable down there, with me not being able to soak in the tub, and its Summertime so it hot, now I have to deal with this mess too? Finally I said screw it and stopped taking the meds. I told the doctor the next time I had an appointment what was happening and that I wouldn't be taking the keflex anymore. Luckily I didn't have any bladder or other urinary tract infections for the rest of the pregnancy either.

I don't believe that I have ever taken Keflex, but then again with all the generic and name brands I truly don't know if I have taken it or not.

Yes, is very common to become irritable and I also try to stay away from people and animals. Is nice to be able to deal with the side effects in a reasonable way.
