What is the Worst Illness or Accident You Ever Had?

I had malaria when I was staying in India. I was taking anti-malaria pills but the disease becomes immune to them, I think the tablets are about 98.9% efficient so I was unlucky!! I was actually glad I got ill in India instead of back in England because they are used to seeing people with this disease and know how to treat it. I have never been so ill in my life! I have never broken a bone or been in a car accident.

It was a long time ago but I had Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS). It's a horrible illness (arent' they all?) that can completely paralyse you. I had a flu like virus for two weeks which I just couldn't shake then one morning I tried to get out of bed and my legs wouldn't support me. I went to hospital where my situation got worse and two days later I could only move one side of my face. I was in intensive care for 8 weeks on a ventilator so not only could I not move but I couldn't speak either. It was very tough for me and my family. I spent a further 5 months in rehabilitation learning to walk and write again.
