What is your main reason to go to the church?

I have known people who attend a church every Sunday but unfortunately, it is so sad and hypocrite that what they have done so far to others in their daily life is far from what Jesus taught. I don't want to elaborate here because it is not a good thing to speak behind their back. However, do they realize that they have made a holy place into a polluted arena? In Bible, it is clearly written that Jesus became angry in the temple because people had made it a trading arena. I know that others have made a church into social activities -- to gossip each other, to influence others for their own purposes, to socialize with their groups, to find a compatible mate (hopefully), etc. I am so sick of it. I really believe that it is very sinful to do such things in a church. God knows what your heart is. What is your main reason to go to the church?

fact is most churches are man centered not God centered and going to a church no more makes one a Christian than sitting in a garrage will make you a car!

I used to attend church on Sundays many years back; however I found that most of the attendees (not all, though) were there to show off their cars, clothes, children, spouses, boyfriends, girlfriends, etc, or to gossip...and there wasn't much feeling of charity or love. It didn't lift my spirits, so to say...so I stop attending. I've yet to find a church where people are genuine in their concern for humankind...however I believe that I can worship God wherever, not necessarily in a church.

I know what you're talking about. I have seen those things. This is exactly why I want to ask people.

i go to church to hear the word of God. i go there to get relief from the struggles that i faced during the week. i go there to hear what i need to sustain me for the week ahead.
