Our principles in life

All of us encountered different experience and situations that we come across a principle that touched us very deeply that we go and live by it from day to day as much as possible. Share a situation or two you were in and what principle have you applied from it? As for me, it was a couple of years ago. Around 5-6 years. I was really down. I was drinking and smoking a lot and I've been to bars and night clubs almost everyday. As time passed by, I started to feel empty. I became lonely and really out of it. I always stare in the horizon with and empty mind and heard. Then, I started to think, what am I gonna do with my life? I'm doing nothing... Then came a movie called Bedazzled with Brendan Fraser and Elizabeth Hurley. It gave me a fresh start. "In our life we want this and that but we realize we can't just get it with just a wave of a wand". Then, it creeped into me. Very deeply. Then, as Brendan's line said, "It really isn't that important how far we go in life anyway, it is how we get there that really matters."
