Okay.. But can't you just call on the name of the Lord and accept him as Christ.. And then ask for forgiveness and your sins will be blotted away?

No.. islam is different , we cannot accept the lord as christ because he is not a God . We have one God and we ask the forgiveness from him , worship him, be loyal only for him. if the christ is God then we will have two God that have the same power, Almighty and that cannot be,because we may have family of God if we have two God .,That why we ask, worship Allha(God) the one and nothing but him.This is islam you surrender to God only and no creature than him.
