Fishing Spoons?

What do you prefer in the way of fishing spoons? Have you found that certain sizes or certain colors have worked better for you? Do you have a particular brand that is best, or are the generics just as good as the name brands? I started using fishing spoons after watching a kid on a dock toss one out and pull in a walleye... and I've had some success with hitting the northern pike!
