I watched the recent movie release of 'The Happening' and here's what I found. It was surprisingly refreshing to me. It was humor+horror all the way. Well, i wouldn't call it horrifying but it was a new blend of genres that I have never seen before in any movies except spoof movies. I read from an article in rottentomatoes.com about this movie and they said it was all unintended humor. Well, i beg to differ. Being the peculiar director that he is, M.Night Shyamalan must have done this purposely to create the awkward feel in this movie. He left a lot question marks about the cause of the weird happenings in the story so that the audience will be eager to know about it throughout the movie. If there is one bad thing about this movie it would be the fact that it might have tried to be too cute that most people would not get it and thus find it dull. 4/5 stars for me. How about you?

I was waiting for someone to post this, lol. Perfect title. Nothing happened in that movie. It was sad seeing Marky Mark with bad acting skills. He's normally a great actor, so what happened? The whole premise is brilliant, but M. Night isn't the greatest writer. He needs to proofread his work before filming it. He's a way better director. I honestly don't think I will sit through this again. I was hoping this movie would change my mind about his craft.

Hey there, actually i thought Marky Mark did a good job given the stuff he gets from this movie. But his performance here is nowhere near his performance in The Departed. I really think he's a good actor. In The Happening I would say his acting is good but not memorable.

I thought that it was intentional humor as well. Right when something funny and relaxing the audience would happen, something totally crazy and scary would happen! It actually became extremely predictable, and when I walked out of theaters I said "most predictable movie of 2008" and I still think that way. Shyamalan has always made predictable movies, the only one where I didn't see what was happening already was "6th sense" and I was still in middle school when I saw that, so I wasn't very good at comprehending movies. All in all I was entertained, and it was a good effort on the directors part, however, in all of Shyalaman's movies, it was mostly a disappointment against the marketing.

Hey dreemsofdark, yeah i agree that it was predictable and I also think it was intentional humor. I think M Night Shymamalan did quite a good job here juz that maybe critics don't get it.
