Are you a better person on the internet?

Because sometimes that's what i feel. I can be more attentive, funnier, than if i were faced with that situation in the real world. It's not that i become a completely different person, it just seems that the best positive traits become more significant. What about you? Are you a better person online, or vice versa?

I believe I am. I am not really that talkative in person, I only like to be talkative with close friends. I don't get too insecure online, I can often say what I want to.

Yes you are very right in saying that.Even i have observed some little positive changes in my online behaviour.I tend to be more patient and responsive online.I articulates my thoughts and ideas in a better manner online. All these are small changes but these polish my behaviour for good.It may be coz i dont the person on the other side properly so i tend to be extra cautious not to offend the person. But the overall personality remains same. The core structure of the personality remains unchanged.

When you say that it polish your behavior for good, does it mean that it also polish your good behavior offline?

I actually think that I am a more mature person on the internet, if not a bit more eloquent. I play a lot of online shooters, and it seems that everyone on those games either can't spell or make coherent sentences or is under 15 years old. I make it a personal habit to punctuate everything I type correctly, and I sometimes get into "insult matches" with immature little kids who think they're the best. They usually get all flustered and stuff when I begin to sound sophisticated. It's really gratifying, for some reason. I also seem to feel a little more open and direct with my opinions.

I think it's easy to be brave online, and say exactly what you think. I always try to be honest, and if that upsets people, there's nothing much I can do about it. Probably in real life I'd keep my mouth shut more often ... or maybe not ...

You're right! Maybe because it's easy to be brave online because of the anonymity status. Thank you for the respond!

On the internet, everyone can be anyone that want to be. This is why people love being online all the time. There is less discrimination on the internet also and I believe it is the only place where people can have true freedom of speech. I think I'm a good person on and offline, but I like that I can be more online than I can be in person.

True. Because you cant really see the person you talk to in the internet, there's less discrimination. Everyone is being considered based on their opinion (brain) not how they look, race, nationality, etc. So you tend to be more a good person online than in person?

You are correct! You can be anything you desire when you are hidden. I can express what I feel and be direct to someone I don't see compared to conversing face to face. Although it does not mean you can be a better person. I believe that you can be more confident when not communicating personally.

a different point of view! So you mean that the 'hidden' nature of the internet (not communicating personally) that brings out the confidence thus, our best side. Wow, i havent seen it that way before. Thank you for the thought!
