change to digital

I'm really angry about the coming change from analog to digital tv. Advertising often likens it to the change from black and white to color many years ago, but the thing that gives me a problem is that it isn't, at all. When the change to color came, people could still watch tv on black and white sets, gradually making the change. Now, when the economy is the worst in my lifetime, when I can barely scrape by, all the tvs in my house are going to become useless. When I had to take a cut in pay or lose the job, I canceled the cable service, but there are no options next February. I can't afford new tv sets. I can't afford to buy converters. I rarely watch tv, but it's almost always on, to keep me company. While I truly love music and listen to it a lot, it doesn't help the house feel less empty, as tv does, when my husband isn't around. What do you plan to do?

I have cable so the change will not affect me it only affects those who don't have cable or satellite. Did you send in for one of the coupons for $20 off the converter box?
