Did God create us or we create God?

I have been wondering all these while whether there is a God. I believe many people are also wondering. So I thought it would be good for discussion which should benefit all of us who are interested to find out the truth. People from all walks of life are invited to give their views and enlighten the people of this world. Do you believe in God? Did he/she create us? Did God allow all these destructive things ( earthquake, floods, typhoons, etc.) to happen to this world? I am sure there are a lot of enthusiastic people like me who wants to know.

There has got to be a God, or a Supreme Being. How else to explain the complexities of the universe, who created all this? So to why God allows destructive things to happen, I don't have an answer. On the other hand, God also allow great things to happen, like acts of kindnesses and sacrifice, great inventions, brilliant minds. So there's a check and balance - but who keeps track of that?

Thank you for your input. I hope somebody can explain who created the complexities of the universe. Any scientist out there? I can understand if great things happen but do not know why the destructive things have to happen. Is this the imperfection of God or the Supreme Being as you called it?

i'd like to share out something ive read in dan brown's angel and demons... It's about science being too young to understand the complexities of the universe... It's because in order to understand everything, we have to get to the bottom of things; to where it all began. And the farther we get back to history, the difficult it gets.

chocolateiscream, I tend to agree with you. A wise man had said before that our knowledge on the universe is very shallow. I believe that eventually scientist will prove everything about the universe. For us ordinary people should focus on our lives and find ways to reduce our sufferings and thus achieve happiness.

Well this is philosophical and I guess everybody's view is different. Although I'm sort of a semi-Christian, in a way I think we created God. In fact God might not be a guy up in heaven looking down on us. He'll be more like a source of energy that no one can really imagine. We 'created' God to explain things that happens around our world. We know that we must have started off some how but no one really knows as there are no historical or scientific proof. Was there a big bang? How did everything start. I think our world has no start and no end. like space. You can't go out and say here's start of space and here's the end. It's more like some where around there's a big ring we can't recognize. Something we can't model graphically or visually. Something so complicated that it's hard to see how it works. God may be anything but God must exist as whether God created as or we created God, he's something that we use to explain the start of the universe and how our world works. Although our scientific advancements explains things differently and people are more and more in doubt that there is no God, big bang could not have happened without a reason. There's no random factor in our universe. A certain set of force named God created us all.

Being a semi Christian, does that mean that you only get to play in a semi final in a christian's heaven? If i am not a christian I will not get to heaven? Just kidding. Before I continue, I want you to know that your discussion is very interesting. Wow, you said we created God to explain things that happens around the world. Sometimes i do think from that angle. Nobody can say you are wrong in your discussions. I tend to agree with you but it will bring us nowhere. You said I think our world has no start and no end. The scientist believe that the world started with the Big Bang. Christians and Buddhist believe that there is "the end of the world" thing. The Christians keep on saying the end of the world is coming soon. But when? Everytime when there is a natural disaster, the christians will ask the same question. Is it the end of the world? Please read some of my response to comments from others. Thank you for your input again.

I believe that we all have to believe in yourselves. Then you will believe that we are all accountable. Thus we must be responsible. Remember, one good turn derserves another? Nothing comes easy. We have to work hard for everything we want. There is no short cut. Short cut successes are only temporary. You will lose in the end. Financially or emotionally.

I can't answer your question because basically I don't know whether I still believe in God or not. Same with you, I have so many questions in my mind about God. If he is real or not? I don't know what to believe in because no one can give me a good answer that can really convince me about God. I hope there is someone who can share and prove to us that there is really God. Because for now I'm thinking that only people are the one who is creating God through their imaginations. I think those people who created the bible are just one of the most intelligent and most imaginative persons ever because through their writings many people believe with them. Through their writings there is a form of "faith" in different religions as what they have called it.

I believe you have good reasons to doubt that there is a God. It could be your prayers went unanswered or there are too many men sufferings or too many natural disasters destroying human lives and properties? And there are many more and endless negative happenings in this universe. You have to bear in mind that all these negativities are man made, even for natural disasters. Apart from these, try to think of those positives like this universe, the planets, humans, other creatures etc.... How did all these appear in this universe? By accident or by someone? it is so perfect until men start making changes to its original state. Even the climate today is changed. thunders are getting louder and lightnings are getting nearer to us. Look at your own body. It is not so simple like your body is made up of a head, eyes, ears, mouth, hands, legs etc..Our body also requires, bones, muscles, blood (white/red). Look at how your heart, lungs, liver, pancreas work etc.. It is so complicated but perfect. All these good things cannot come from nothing or no one, right? Something or someone has make all these happen. I mean the creation of this universe. Anybody want to add or dispute what I have just said. Please be candid. Thank you.

i think both in a way.. i personally believe there is a god but i think if there wasnt we would make one anyways since every one has a need to believe in something.. and if there is a god i do believe he allows bad things to happen because there is a under lying reason for it or something.. some things are so horrible i couldnt even imagine justifying it but i figure there is some reason they let it happen..

Everyone has a need to believe in something....why God? why not believe in yourself? It's more meaningful to believe in yourself. Even if there is a God, he will be happy that you are grateful and appreciative of his lovely creations. God allow bad things to happen. It's true. Just like us, some of the things we do are within our control and some of the things that happened is actually out of our control. Eventhough God allow these bad things to happen, that does not mean God is bad. He does not meddle with our lives. These bad things are called natural disasters (flood, earthquake etc). God created us but we being the more intelligent creature have to be responsible for our doings and actions. God do not tell us what to do. We are expected to know what to do. If not, we ask for help from somebody, some institutions, some wiser people etc...Some things that happened are so horrible. You may not understand why it happened but there is a reason for sure. You do good things, you will get good things. What you eat is what you are. You are accountable for your actions. Thank you.

the god created us and we created gods .there is a god and he created the humans and gave us every thing to experience every thing in the world and what we people are doing is destroying this place ,i belive in god and he is not allowing the destructive things but its the humans bcoz of there sins we have this sort of problems

I totally agree. Sometimes we create God. God gave us everything to experience but we have to be accountable, right? We are the ones that is destroying this place. So we have to pay for this. It is not God who destroy this place but we are the ones. Although it is the humans that is destroying this place, it is not because of their sins but because of their wants, greeds, cravings, arrogance, ignorance etc.... Because of our doings, we have to pay for it. We will suffer and will be in pain until we have "learned our lesson" and be wiser. Apparently we will not learned or else people will not believe that the world is coming to an end.

People are tied to ethical values bacause of a fundamental pillar which is called faith to a supreme being or GOd. We all benefit for this because we strive to become better people for ourselves, and for other people. I'm a religious person, and I believe in the Almighty Father... I believe God allows destructive forces in Earth, so as to keep balance and for nature to take its course. You see, everything happens for a reason. We may not realize it, but everything plays a big role in His great scheme..

When we are born, we have no values and our knowledege of anything is zero. We know nothing at the start. As we grow, we pick up new things. This process will continue until we perish. So we actually are learning throughout our lives. We try to understand things we come across. When we have understood, then only can we say we have learned that thing or have learned a lesson. Certain things we cannot see or understand but we want to believe, is called faith. Some people will only believe if there is rational or logic. Some will just follow others into believing. So it is more difficult to convince those logical/rational people in anything. Religion is all good. It teaches us good values. So we eventually become a better person. You said God allows destructive forces in Earth so as to keep balance and for narure to take its course. I agree but what I don't understand is that why take a certain live/s in the course of doing it? I also agree that everything happens for a reason. But does that mean we will never know the reason for the happenings?

Yes, there is a being who many people refer to as 'God'. Nearly all the 'descriptions' of Him that we read in scriptures and are taught fall so far short of the mark that it can be said with some truth that 'man created God in his own image'. You have only to look at the different ways that different religions have described 'God' (or, in some cases, 'Gods'). There is, indeed, only one being/mind/person who created (and, indeed, is ) everything created. Most. if not all, religions and scriptures have recognised and described it. In our terms, God is both 'male' and 'female' and has so many facets that the one being is often worshipped as two or more deities. That doesn't matter to 'him'. The important thing is that each of us tries to get as close to the power that creates us as possible. Just as a child can be close to their father or mother without understanding all the complexities of adult life, so a person can be close to their Creator. Yes, of course, because 'he' created the world as part of the Universe and because it follows all the physical laws that were also created to order it, earthquakes, floods, typhoons are all part of that. We, as humans, see only the destruction, loss of life, pain and sadness they can cause. We tend to forget that our life on this earth is only a very small part of creation. I do know (which is more than belief) that we have an immortal part of us. Whether it has an 'individuality' in the sense that we usually think of as 'soul', I don't know. What I do know (and can tell you for certain) is that 'God' loves every one of us individually and personally in our manifestation in this life. If and when you can come to 'him' and ask 'him' who 'he' is, 'he' will show you.

Owlwings, your input is very interesting with a mixture of spiritual and science facts. Although I agree with a number of your writings, I also have some doubts on some of them. 1. You compared the closeness of a child to their parents and an adult to their creator. Normally the parents bring up and care for the child. So the child will naturally be close to the parents. However there are also parents who left a child to another person for their own reasons. So will the child be that close to their biological parents. This situation will be more like the relationship between an adult and God. You can't see them, and all is based on faith. This child will try to understand his parents just like an adult trying to understand God. Some adult do pray for help but not all prayers will be answered. This is due to the complexities of an adult life. 2. Is our life on this earth only a very small part of God's creation. If yes, does that mean that it is not so important. Can we start fighting and killing each other. Even a thousand or million killed is not important as we have billions of the not so important people in this earth? So in these universe, is it about life or nature or both? We are humans, we have feelings. So we tend to think on the human's side as more important than nature. We are suppose to be the more intelligent creature of God's creation. And we play only a small part? 3. You mentioned that we have an immortal part of us which we called soul. When we depart, where will our soul go? Heaven or hell? Or will we be born again? Where will our soul be and what is the best explanation which will make us more desire to live. Have a better reason to live. Have a better understanding of life. So that our lives on this earth is more meaningful. So that there will be more good people than less bad people. So that people will appreciate lives. So that people can understand why sometimes God have to take away live/s. Is there such an explanation? If there is, there will be more peace in this world.

I believe in God.,. But like you I have questions too. Why create and destroy? Is it punishment? What about the innocent lives affected? If God created everything, where did he come from? All this questions and much more bother my thoughts at times.

There is a possibility humanity created God or gods or the creator as simply an idea and nothing more. There are rules to religion, the "word" of God/gods, but can one actually prove the existence of God, the word or the rules of the entity/entities? Perhaps proof is impossible for any of these. On one hand, we'd have to define existence and have a consistant definition for it. Here's where things start to become convoluted. I physically exist (in terms of definition), but the thoughts I have do not physically exist. In fact, they can't really be described or quantified in physical terms. However, the thoughts do exist and they are being recorded in textual form as I'm typing this. Still, the thoughts themselves are only known to me... not in a physical sense (though neurons firing off bioelectric signals could count...). The point is that the idea of God might be a manifestation of humans, but its definition of existence is in question. Think of other gods in human culture and history (notably the Greek and Roman gods). Is there proof of their existence or is it only in myth, folklore and legends? Something similar could be said for current religions. Now for possible proof of God/gods. Does the idea/word/religion prove a creation of God or was this inherent in most humans? If it was inherent but subject to human imperfection, it would explain different interpretations of God and religion. Not much of a proof but still something to think about. Another issue, scientific history and composition of the planet and people. Things are so imperfect in both, but at the same time perfection can be seen. Life began in a seemingly inhospitable environment some 4.6 billion years ago. Since then, there has been evolution and change in life, adapting to what was available. It also seems the environment fit many of the lifeforms for each of the eons and periods (though many models say its the lifeforms that shaped the environments in the beginning...) Even in the current era and environment, there is the imperfect/perfect contradiction. The earth is warming and experiencing seeming weather anomalies, but overall things remain in balance. From the perspective of geologic history one significant change could through things out of balance... but so far nothing of the sort is happening (well debatable, but in terms of comparing previous environmental setups, nothing major has occured in the present). Its interesting that the environment remains in such a fascinating state despite the time period. Perhaps the whole environment and planet is managed by an external intelligence or created to be a self-managing entity. A third proof, or possible proof... the people themselves. People say they've experienced their own miracles in life. Others claim that God/gods do act but they do so indirectly (through the acts of fellow man, through small "miracles").

There is God. and He is alive. There reason why your heart keeps on beating and brain keeps functioning is because God makes and wills them to. How can we create Someone whom you do not see? Most destructive happenings around us are consequences of our own actions, our own free will to decide sometimes dooms us to fail.

i guess it will all depend on what you believe in. In my case, I certainly believe that God created me. I acknowledge that someone bigger, mightier, merciful created me. It is only through that way that I will know who I am anyway. I rather see myself as a creation rather than a creator because in that way I will know my roots, my origin and perhaps my purpose. I certainly believe that God is not the one who made all the destructive events in our lives. Earthquake, thypoons, flood and all those stuff are created by people themselves.. To live in a paradise like world or in a destroyed earth is choice that we people made. =)

Yes, looks like it is up to us whether to believe in God or not. Believing in God or not, to where does it takes us. You acknowledge God so that you will know who you are. Does that mean that if you do not believe in God, you will be lost and would not know who you are? I think believe in yourself is equally important. If you don't know yourself, you will not know who you are. Where is your strength and what are your weaknessness. Knowing and understanding yourself will make you realise the purpose of living. Yes, earthquake and floods are manmade. But why so many innocent people have to die or suffer just because others caused the disasters. If we can make the choice, then it is fair. But most of the times, it is others who made the choice and we have to suffer because of their choice. Why?

Hi! Let me just post my opinion! Let me tell you that the Bible says... in the beginning God! This illustrates that before we he existed. The next Q you were asking is it God who brought about destruction such as earthquakes and calamities? the answer is NO! God is a Good God! He wants to make sure that receive every benefit of these lifetime! But we have submitted ourselves to the god of this world called satan! nothing good comes from him. All he has is a distortion of the Word of God! The bible says in John 10:10 The Thief...Satan and his Devil steals from us the beautiful things that we unknowingly surrendered to satan. God wants you to know that you can defeat the enemy. He send Jesus...the First born So that all of us will know that he defeated the enemy therefore we can defeat the enemy. Jesus who was God removed the qualities of God and was the Son of Man when he defeated the lies of the enemy. Friend...We are powerful! WE are CREATED LIKE HIM Yes there is a God and We are His Body!

I see you quoting the bible. Your input is based on the bible. God is good and is not responsible for the calamities. Satan is the culprit. God only bring benefits and good things to us. Satan destroy the good things. God through Jesus defeated the Satan. You said we are powerful. We are created like him. If we are so powerful, why can't we destroy the satan once and for all so that we will only benefit the good things and the satan will be history? Why God being so powerful allow the satan to ruin us, which is God's beautiful creation? Can anyone help me understand further the power of God? Why God allow the satan to coexist when he already know that Satan is bad for us and a destroyer? If there is no satan, there can only be peace for the world. Thank you for your comment.

i believe that we do respond to god the initiating/original creator in a kind of way reflecting the way "he/she" treats us. in a way that shows praise and realistic-respect.

Obviously to some that we are responding to God. But does God repond to you? Did God answer all your prayers? Or did God ever answer your prayers? If yes, why are there so much sufferings. Why a certain perosn have to die because of other's doings? Why some children are born unhealthy, blind or without limbs? We have to think logically what are the causes or did God make it happen. Does that mean God is cruel or imperfect?
