How Was Your Last Semester of College?

I was wondering, how did everyone spend their last semester, was it stressful or fun or crazy? For me, I had 1 more psychology class to take, a history and earth science, those were my required classes. But I had to have 2 more credits to be full time to live on campus and all. I chose an online class dealing with MS Office, and a half semester first aid and cpr class. Things started out ok I guess, then about a month into the semester I was walking to class, actually I went early to science lab so I could spend some time studying for first my earth science exam that day. Well, I never made it to lab that day, and I never made it to my exam. Luckily in the end he gave us the option to do a comprehensive make-up exam in addition to the final. Anyway, what happened? I was walking on this path sidewalk and I was too close to the edge I guess, the next thing I knew, I was on the ground and I was scared to get up, I wasn't in a horrible amount of pain at the time, but I had a bad feeling. Luckily a woman was cleaning windows at a nearby building and came over to check on me. To make a long story a little shorter, it ended in my first ever ambulance ride to the local ER! I had fractured my ankle, this was my first broken bone ever! My parents had to come 2.5-3 hours to help me, so I spent most of my time in the waiting room after I was splinted. Luckily I had my i-pod! So, I spent the next 3 weeks or so struggling to walk on crutches, sometimes leaving my dorm at 5am so I wouldn't be late for my 9am lab! Honestly I walked way more than I should have been, but I had no choice! My dad came down about once a week to change my bandages. We ended up taking my splint off way too early and just bandaging my ankle really tight and wearing a brace. All so I could shove my foot into my shoe... (my very small, size 4 shoe. LOL with bandages that wasn't easy, luckily I had some that were bigger to wear when I had the most bandages on.) As time went by I was able to walk a little faster and not leave as early, but I was lucky to have a friend who was willing to give me a ride to my dorm after our night history class. So basically my final semester in college was no party, it was painful and I couldn't really do anything except get myself to classes and get myself back, then lay in bed and do whatever I had to do for classes. In the mean time I had to withdraw from my first aid class, luckily it didn't hurt my credits or anything. I couldn't do it because for cpr we had to get on the floor and practice cpr on dummies, and I tried, but I couldn't do it, I couldn't bend my ankle behind me obviously. Anyway, fast forward 9 months later, I'm out of college, living in a new place and for the most part back to normal as far as my ankle goes. LOL I do still have ankle pain, especially when I don't get enough sleep, or when I walk too much or when the weather is bad. Basically it's a battle scar from my last semester in college! I am now more careful how and where I walk, and the night I got to my dorm after breaking my ankle I had my dad throw out the pair of flip flops I had worn many times, including the day I broke my ankle! I haven't worn any of those things since! LOL Sorry this was so long, but honestly, this was the craziest thing that happened to me in college. I had tons of roommate drama in my years, but this was the worst physical experience I had, even worse than the time I drank way too much and spent the next day waking up with the room spinning (and that was the only time I did that!)

My last semester of college was pretty laid back and easy to deal with. I only had 2 classes that I needed to graduate, but, like you, needed more credits to live on campus (and keep my scholarships). So I took a couple of "blow off" classes, and ended up skipping one of those probably more than I should have. Of course, then I went on to grad school, and spent 5 more semesters working on my master's degree, and then started work on a Ph.D. My last semester of that was really just me deciding that it was too hard to juggle work (full time), school, and having a life. :)

That's cool that you had a pretty easy last semester! Oh wow, that is so cool that you went on to get a masters, then Ph.D. It sounds like a lot of work, and stressful, but very interesting and rewarding for sure!

Thanks for your sharing. I feel sorry for you but the story in also interesting somehow. everyone must have suffered from something, then then will grow up. my last semester on the campus in luckier than you, and more crazy than you. I'm from China ,we didn't have any classes in the last semester. what we need to do is just to complete a paper. it was not difficult. so we drank and smoke ,played games, etc. now ,4 years after that. i feel a little sorry about that time, maybe i should have done something more meaningful. but i don't feel any regretful.

Oh yea, in the grand scheme of things my last semester definitely wasn't that crazy. LOL It was just the case for me. I have lead a fairly sheltered life. I have always done whatever I can to stay safe and out of trouble, sometimes that can be boring, and it also means when something bad happens it's that much harder to deal with. But for the most part probably the best thing for me. Oh wow, it does sound like your last semester was fairly laid back. That's good that you don't feel regretful. I sometimes wish I could have had more fun in college, but by nature I don't have an outgoing personality, I have trouble making friends, so the social thing never happened for me. LOL

Aha, actually, I don't have an outgoing personality too. I don't like to take part in activities on on campus at all. I don't have a good handle of what an American university exactly is. I know a little just from the movies, i indeed like to watch American movies. like "American Pie". did you watch it? but I think it's not the real case for the campus life in the US, it's too crazy. I guess I won't attend the parties if i were in the US, it's not suitable for me. I really want to know more about the life in the US. Thanks for your sharing.

My last semester in college, is really fun yet very stressful. I have my internship, lectures, exam, exit interviews and graduation practice. I am attending my review class during weekends. Frankly, I don't have enough rest. I had a hard time budgeting my money for my transportation allowance. It's like a hunger strike everyday, I am hungry during my On the job trainee. I got a hard time on minor subjects, there's a lot of quizzes and even programs I need to attend to just to pass the subject. I have to attend seminars and even recollection who made me cry. But everything is worth it, after the graduation I finally got some rest but not in job haunting.
