i haven't tried it..but i have a friend..she has long straight beautiful hair..it's very shiny and healthy..you can't even see any split end in it...i asked her if what shampoo is she using..and she said that ever since she was small , her shampoo was a detergent soap..i was surprised about it...but though her hair was beautiful because of using detergent soap, i still haven't tried it because my hair might not like it...wehihihi...have you also heard about anyone who's using a detergent soap as their shampoo??

I have never used laundry detergent on my hair, but i have used Dawn dish detergent before. A few years back i had to help my (then) husband install a transmission in his truck and while we were laying there trying to get it into place it started to drain right beside my head. I couldnt move to get out of it becuase i was helping to hold the tranny in place for him to bolt it in, soooo i ended up with transmission fluid in my hair (and not just a lil bit either). The only thing that I could find to get it clean was Dawn.

Does that by chance have anything to do with why he is your (then) husband?? LOL Just some light humor :) Well Dawn does take grease out of your way! That is a good trick to know.

hi Andyel2023 ! I have had to use liquid dish soap to wash my hair. My hair didn't fall out so that's a good thing! There were times that I had to get only dish soap to use for washing hair, washing dishes, and taking a bath. Was cheaper all the way around. At least now, I don't have to worry about not being able to get different cleaning products for different things. I most generally use Suave shampoo and either Zest or Dial bath bars. I like to get the cheapest concentrated dish liquid for doing the dishes.

No, but during desperate times when there's no shampoo available I use a regular hand soap. LOL

I tried it during my childhood years, I think we are really in need of soap. I think the brand name of the detergent was "AJAX", my aunt said they used this as a shampoo before and their hair very shiny and manageable, I wonder how it goes and what's the smell?

I had real long hair when I was younger. And, my hair is very thick. I used to call it my mop. Well, my mother always used octagon soap on my hair, and then used lemon juice in the rinse water. So I used it for many years. My hair was always healthy,no broken ends, and shined like the sun! I know it has lye in it, but it never hurt my head. In fact, I think it was used as an all-purpose soap back then.

I have not tried this, yet I was fascinated by the topic! Do you know what type of detergent she uses. Do you know if it is a dish detergent, or a laundry detergent? This is the first I have heard of anyone doing this. Inquiring minds want to know! :)
