why the people pull leg down when you growing up?

When I purchased my computer for online work surrounding people given me many comments, they try to pull my leg down all the time, but keep quite and listened all the words and comments, they also spoke that I am chatting with people for time pass and neglecting to spend some time with the friends and surround small business people. I know what I am doing and when I will get success in my work, I started my work with mylot and many PTC sites and doing regular work with them, now I am getting good response from every where, so why should bother about my work and my earnings? Just give me the reason why the people pull leg down when you want to grow up?
