Do you take your child to playgroup? If so, do both of you enjoy it?

I love playgroup! I am actually the co-ordinator of a playgroup this year for the first time. I am loving the volunteer job and singing, dancing, reading and crafting with the kids is so rewarding. I have been going to playgroups for the last 10 years with my children until they were of school age. I have found that the socialisation that they do there helps them at school (and at preschool). They also have a chance to watch their mother socialise and lead by example. Playgroup to us equals hours of fun! I have found that I have made a few good aquaintances from there too. Not that we socialise out of playgroup but that once a week we can relax over a coffee and talk about motherly things. Do you go to playgroup? Have you ever been the co-ordinator before? If so what part of the role do you enjoy the most? How important is playgroup to you and your child? Do you get along well with the other mums?

I've never been to a formal playgroup. We lived on base until my son was a year and a half old, and we would hang out with friends on base sometimes, and a lot of them had young children. My son was still kind of young to really enjoy playing with them, though. He would just kind of play along side them, or they would play with him and cater to everything, because he was the baby by close to two years, compared to most of them. We've lived in our small town for a year now, and I don't know of anyone that has kids close to my son's age here. Our truck is currently not running right, so my husband takes the van to and from work, so we don't really have any way of getting anywhere that we can't walk anyway, though.

I know how hard it can be feeling 'stuck' at home! Oh well you will have to make your own playgroup for one! Have a once a week routine of songs, reading and craft - he will love it! If you make one special day then you can be prepared to clean up the paint/playdough/glue mess and let him make a really big, fun mess! (I mean I bet you already do this sort of thing everyday or every so often but I mean just setting aside a time for you and he to 'play' playgroup!). I hope your truck gets mended soon!
