I am so nervous now. My daughter's speech therapy authorization from the insurance was over on June 12. She needs new authorization. To make a long story short, doctor was out of town, so we did not have speech for 2 week already. (yes doctor work very slow) Today I follow up with the insurance and found out that the medical group has not yet approved her new authorization. The case manager and medical director will need to meet to discuss her case. This is new for me. In the past they used to approve it right away without any problems. I don't know why they are deciding to do the meeting. I hope they can do it soon, her next appt is schedule for 06/26. Why don't they understand the autistic children need continued speech to be successful in life. Everybody please wish me luck. This is really not a good day for me.

I don't know what to say, just hang in there. So much has been achieved already, don't look back now! Chin up, you'll get there!

I think 2008 is just not my year. Autism, marriage problem, work problem , problems with my brother, mom and all. But nothing else bugs me more than fighting with the insurance about the constant battle.

I think that it really stinks, how they are making you wait. People neeed care now, be they autistic, or any other problem. Having Asperger's syndrome myself, I have an idea of what you are going through. For other reasons I have had to deal with medical authorizations, and it stinks trying to get things done when you need it done.

Hi DanishCanadian, Thank you for your support and understanding. Insurance company should be held liable for things they do. For example, when they make you wait so long and there is a real consequences they should be responsible. But again in the States, insurance is the other big monster that gobbles us up. I sometimes feel like just quitting my job and applying for medicare, i don't know is it medical or medicare but the ones our country provide free of charge for low income families. they don't seem to need referrals they get to see specialist all the time. Why is it so unfair in this country, you work your behind off and pay your taxes, yet the system screws you instead.

I can relate. Although my daughter was never denied any therapy (she's on medicaid) we have dealt with the stupidity of the "authorities" when it has come to her needs. A few years back social security decided she was cured and tried to cut off her disability. It was a long process getting it straightened up.
