There are different types of goldfish, but goldfish have been known to live many years. They prefer cooler water - cooler than most tropical fish - and will supposedly be healthier and live longer if their water is kept in the right temp range.

I'm not sure what the water temp is. There is no heater in there. I guess it's roughly room temp or a degree or two less.

My mother had a goldfish for about 8 years one time. Most of her goldfish lived for years. Hoover, her last goldfish, lived for about 5 years. Some people's don't live past a few days or months. It all depends on how you care for them.

Wow, that is a long time. I had a catfish who lived several years one time.

Fancy goldfish can live to be between 10 and 15 years old. Common goldfish can live to e over 35 years if given the right conditions. Most people that have then in bowls fine that they do not live very long and the goldfish suffer a short lifetime as well as suffer in way s that we cannot understand. Fancy goldfish should have 20 gallons of water for the first one and 10 gallons for each additional one minimum, more is better and also make sure to do regular partial water changes "to flush the toilet". Common or pond goldfish should have at least 100 gallons or preferably a pond to live in.
