Be yourself. Is it so difficult in modern world?

Yes. I consider myself a modern age hippie. And the term 'hippie' isn't exactly liked by some people. And I have no idea why. I believe in whole heartedly in being whoever you are, free love, and choice. None of these sound bad to me. My way of thinking isn't widely or openly known and sometimes I feel lost. Especially when I'm around negative people.

Hi mad_orange, welcome to mylot and happy myloting. I don't think so. We can be our selves at any time it is about each one. If you are the way you really are the others must accept you this way. Except if you are a disagreeable person. But if you use a social mask to be nice to every one it becames hard to get your own way again. And you never can be nice to every one because always someone will not like you anyway. I think that be our selves is the best way to get good friends and relations for real. I know that I am me. but that me is also a sum total of many other people too - lessons in life, my parents, my teachers, experiences gained in life by me and others, through learnings from reading, etc., It is not difficult to be oneself, it is sometimes difficult for others to accept that you are just being yourself, because they want you to be like they have thought of you, the image they have about you. I don't think that it is difficult to be your self now. In fact, its the opposite. You should be yourself no matter how modern our era now so that people will notice you of who you are.
