Grow or Buy?

When it comes to watermelons do you grow your own or just buy them at the grocery store or markets? I do both.Suprisingly my son hasnt been planting any seeds yet.It is too dry down here so Im not even sure they would grow.I bought one the other day and it was a waste of my money,it was not sweet.I ended up giving most of it to the crabs.

I have always bought my watermelons at the grocery store....I never gave a thought to growing them. I don't know anyone who does. I guess if you grew up with home grown melons the store bought ones can't compare in taste.

Heh well I will usually buy them. This year my dad is growing watermelons though and I cant wait to eat them lol. I remember as a child that my nextdoor neighbours would grow a lot of watermelons and pumpkins and other things. They had what seemed like a really big garden. It was pretty much their whole backyard which was a decent size.
