how can your discussion be the 'today's top discussion' here on myLot?

i'm just wondering how my discussion will end up as today's top discussion. it seems that having many responses to your discussion doesn't necessarily mean you will be placed on the top discussion list. i think i saw a discussion yesterday that was included on the top list but does not even have a single respond. i also wanted to be included on the list. lol. but i'm just wondering how. is the admin of this site the one who actually picks the top discussion? if so do you know his criteria for selecting one? thanks

I'm not positive about what gets a discussion to the hot topics list. I do know however that a discussion can break the guidelines and make it to the top discussions...an then get deleted.
It strikes me as odd that those breaking the rules get to the top or to the daily digests like they do.
I think however the number of responses is a part of how they figure it out for top as well as the quality of the responses and the ratings that people give the members while in that discussion.

i am also doubtful about that. really, how can a discussion be on the top list if it has even a zero response? maybe somebody else here might give us some explanations...
