How do I get started being a freelance writer?

Hi everybody, My dream has always been to be a writer and I have my English/Literature BA degree. But you know it is really easy to get distracted from your dream because there are bills to pay and you need work. So after college, I got my Certified Nursing Assistant license and started working in nursing homes. Well, I am still there! It is a hard job and as I get older, I can tell it is really taking a toll on my body. Don't get me wrong because I do love help others, it is just I want to follow my dream before it is to late. So, where and how does one get started in becoming a freelance writer? Thank you all so much and God bless, leofa
