I think it is Don Bradman but there are others who are also very good, although they fall short of Don Bradman. :)

Don bradman - the extraordinary bradman
Ya..Don was an extraordinary batsman with a phenomenal average..but it is difficult to compare don and sachin as they played in entirely different eras and in different conditions..but as the don himself had said, sachin ahd him play in a very similar manner

You are right in that it is very hard to compare any sort of sportsman over different generations. In the says that Don Bradman was playing, they weren't professionals but had other jobs when they were not playing cricket. These days they are purely professional cricketers, and that will always make a difference. :)

It is difficult to compare batsmen across eras because batsmen in the past played under rules, faced different bowlers, played on different pitches... As a Windian I'll have to go with Sir Garfield Sobers or George Headley or Viv Richards as old-timers. For the present: -Brian Lara for natural talent and flair -Ramnaresh Sarwan for skill and maturity -Chris Gayle for flair. But batsmen do not a cricket team make. it is better to have a team that works well together at all times than one with one star and ten other crappy players. I admire the South African team because they play like a team with each part contributing to the whole- changing roles when necessary. Special bigup to my Windies team.Take the ICC trophy once again. Large up onoo self!
