A gripe about cell phones!

I research heavily before I purchase anything that is either big ticket (like several hundred dollars) or includes some type of contract where if you fail to live up to it, it becomes a big ticket item. Anyway, one thing I've discovered that really bugs me is all the inclusivity with specific cell phones. I think that all the phones on the market should be marketed without a specific carrier attached to it so that you can purchase the phone you want independent of the carrier and/or plan you end up using - without having to pay full price for the phone and THEN have to get it unlocked. Some phones never do work with specific carriers - like Verizon phones for example. Before I purchased my Motorola, I was looking at an LG - but then I found out that the Verizon-enabled phones do not work with my carrier and they can't even unlock them for use!

It is all technical mumbo jumbo to collect our cash and run us dry, but enlist your services to one phone, one carrier and one network and you will have no tear drop for a long time. Good luck

I've been with my carrier a year and I like it. I don't think I'll be switching again because I have a decent chunk of anytime (but no rollover wah) and 5 free numbers, and unlimited text/data plan.
