Do you have a family doctor

who takes care of your family members, in case they are falling ill or indisposed? Many families in my country have family doctors. The main benefit of the arrangement is that we need not look here and there for a doctor or physician in times of need.

We have a family doctor . . . he's been with us since our first son was a year old I think, he knows a lot about our health history and he's able to advise more effectively because of the history. Also he's usually willing to do in-house calls when necessary - I remember when my father came for a visit and he fell sick (he's diabetic), we called him and he offered to come over instead of moving my father (in the state that he was in) to his practice room. It was a big relief for us, and was very much appreciated!

I am a military dependent and receive treatment at a local military hospital. We are assigned to a PCM (primary care manager). This may be a doctor, or it may be a physician's assistant. Since I am rarely sick, by the time I get acquainted with my PCM, he or she has been reassigned to another base somewhere in the world.
