The 20th Century and 21st Century Question

The start of the 21st Century  - What will you call the years when it becomes 2010? Two thousand ten or twenty ten?

Remember the century of 1900's? Let's pick a year, so lets say 1905, we called it nineteen o five not nineteen hundred and five or even 1970, we called it nineteen seventy. Or even 1975 it was called nineteen seventy five and so on. Now that we're in the 21st century, picking a year, I'm going to say 2005, we now call it two thousand and five instead of twenty o five and this year it's 2008 which is said to be two thousand and eight. Now my question is this, once 2010 rolls around are we still going to call it two thousand and ten or are we going to go back to the old way which is twenty ten? Right now I call it two thousand and eight but once it does turn 2010 I will go back to the old way which is twenty ten. What will you call the years ahead of us... providing we live to see the year come.

I am thinking that as the population of intelligent speakers born in the 21st century start to take over things it will start being 10, 20, 30, 40, etc... As most of us think of time in our formative years it usually gots back to 19?? when using just the last two. For Mee come 2010 it will be 20-10 not 2000-10. LOL I wondered if anybody would answer this discussion for it is a thinker. But if one were to think about it, back in 1905 or should I say nineteen O Five as it was said and not nineteen hundred five like it's said with 2005 - two thousand five that maybe once the year 2010 came around, all that would change and the two thousand would go away.

With nineteen hundred and five, the conjunction would be Nineteen O Five such as will be Twenty-One O Five yet Twenty O Five just sounds wrong same as Ten O Five, Thirty O Five, Forty O Five, etc… I am thinking that the “Two Thousand” will go away as soon as the double zeros do. For example: Two-Thousand 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 but Twenty 10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20, etc… I think that it has to do with the double zeros. My ID expires in 2010 and I still sometimes say Two-Thousand Ten rather than Twenty Ten but I am thinking that as the 2000s continue then it will come as second nature to drop the 2000 for simply 20. Yes it is kind of shocking for someone to answer a question such as this as people want to make money with very little thought. Mee, I like a little challenge so I answer, not to mention I do not really like discussions that have a lot of answers as I like the ones with no answers or few answers unless they are just plane stupid. You are right about that last comment. I think that twenty ten and two thousand ten are both appropriate. One is just a longer way of saying the same thing.

Yes it is saying the same thing but when it comes down to it, it will be called one or the other and I'm curious as to what the majority will call it. It's neat to see how one generation will do things and the next will find a new way.
