They are everywhere! I was walking through the yard today and noticed a patch of red. I looked down to find that I was walking through a patch of wild strawberries! I picked a bunch and went in to get a bowl to pick some more. They are so delicious. I had seen the white blossoms weeks ago, but my husband mowed them down so I figured they were a loss. No, they are low enough that the mower missed them. What a nice surprise! When I was a kid we used to pick wild berries all the time and I loved them.
Do you like to pick wild berries? Do you find many near you?

We do not have wild strawberries, but we do have wild blackberries where I live. Blackberries are so good to eat. It takes a long time to pick them but it's worth it.

Yes, it is definitely worth the work. We have blackberries, too. Often we don't have strawberries, but for some reason they are very abundant this year.

I would love to pick wild berries, only they really grow here. In fact we don't really get any wild fruit that you could go and pick. Well that is not true if you go out in the bush there is heaps of native food only you have to be really careful as some is not so good to eat!
Have a strawberry or two for me, they are really expensive here at the moment so I can't even really go and buy any either!
and I LOVE them (so do the kids)

One of the reasons I look forward to summer each year is to get my favorite fruits in season. Even if I wanted to pay the off-season prices, they come from so far away that they are not as good. Nothing like fresh-picked!

Sadly, there aren't that much berries in our place. How I wish I could experience that -- just walking and seeing some berries I could pick.

That's too bad. Maybe you can find a place where you can go and pick some? It is so much fun. At our local apple orchard they let you pick your own apples as well as blueberries, raspberries and blackberries.
