pesto!

I love this dish. My mom just suggested we have it tonight and I can't ever resist it. Anyone know what it is? Any of you ever had it? I really like the flavor it has, I think it's Italian. Has basil and coarse salt and other stuff like that, mixed with noodles of any sort. It's like Alfredo, can be mixed with pretty much any type of pasta. Typically we eat it with spaghetti noodles though, and that's what I recommend.

mostly basil and garlic with some salt added and its so good
with pasta of any kind, love the stuff. Iuse it with spaghetti and with fettuicini and linguinie too. most delicious and I justbuy it ready made at my grocers.

Pesto is Italian! And yes the main ingredient is Basil. There are two kins, Pesto alla Genoese and Pesto alla Sicilia. Pesto alla Genoese is made with Genoese Basil, Garlic, salt, extra vergine olive oil and pecorino sardo cheese.
Pesto all Sicilia is made with tomatoes, garlic, salt, exta vergine oil and little basil that give it it's basil taste
