hi everyone... first i thought it was only me who is using this kind of writing style...its not the normal style that you just end with one dot...but its ended with three dots...and continued the next topic then connected with another three dots...so on so forth lolz i am just amazed when i visited my friend blog site...and then i realized that she is also doing it...this kind of stuff isn't taught in schools right...but it just popped and appear before our very eyes...like the chat lingos of LOL,WB,LMAO,CTC,ASL? who invented it? i dunno? but for this kind of writing style i think it deserve to be mentioned.... so i am calling this new style of writing... the dot dot dot com style...for those smart-ash people who write great stuffs in the net...hehe what can you say about it? hehe do comment SMILE ALWAYS...^_^

I suppose it's a style of writing which is worth mentioning which brings to mind my friend who writes in a peculiar way. He does not use paragraphs at all but numbers. He numbers each grouping just the way other people would use a paragraph to mark a new topic or idea. Dot dot dot. Someone could come and invent the dash style. Cheers!

Im pretty sure i invented it..lol ha ha no..... its just ive been doing it for so long and not because i can remember seeing someone else do it but when im writing to someone and the thoughts are flooding in faster than i can type thats when i use the dots the most....and i guess it can also be a pause when im not sure exactly where i should let the sentence go next. Its kind of something i do when im not really thinking, thats why I havent done it here cos im to conscious of it now hehe

Usually we end a sentence with a single dot like this. Its a very formal thing. But we like something other than this and something new. Hence we invented a new syntax of ending a line or sentence with three dots like...and continue the same topic with different point of view. Its just to say that this sentence has not ended and there is another part of this sentence.

hi startstop... you are right that is what i like to say new syntax of ending a line or sentence...it was never taught in schools before...just the normal dot, exclaimation, and question marks, are the common ones. thanks for the response... SMILE ALWAYS...^_^

thats funny as hell i would have never thought to say something about that... i also do it i dont really know why but i think it might be from typeing what you are thinking as fast as it can come out and when you need time to think about something you want to say it just comes out as... lol PeAcE

Oh yea, I tend to do that at times as well. I've actually been trying to break the habit, at least on here. Because I didn't know how people felt about it, and most the time I don't realize I'm doing it. It really is such a conditioned response, and probably because I have spent so many years on message boards and im's, where most the time nobody really cared about perfect sentence structures and stuff. I do care about that stuff, don't get me wrong, but some habits are just hard to break once you start them. I am glad to see that I'm not the only person who does this. Obviously I'm not in this response, because well, I'm talking about it, therefore, really paying attention. LOL I definitely don't see a problem with it for casual conversations, and sometimes even in a formal paper or something if you are giving a quote or something, but it is probably something that should be used in moderation, if possible. :)

Ever since i joined mylot.. i used to write like this.. it is just like taking a pause.. before you come out with next idea... I think there are no masters for it.... it had find its own way.. See, i never know whether it is a new style of writing are not. When you listen to deep conversations..that are going on, a sentence started never ends, they used to go on adding with " and" ..." and" or some words like " because" " although" etc... and the sentence usually runs for many lines, sometimes it comes to a paragraph or more... and i feel in this way, this kind of writing would have come. Thanks for bringing a different and lively discussion friend.

i used that way of writing too, but that was before. im used to wnd a sentence with using more than one dot. ahhmmmm for me it indicates that there would still be continuation with the words i wanted to say. and, the dot is a kind of style, i think an informal one. you can use many dots when you are writing informally.

hi baebieDARNA30... yup agree with you its really an informal writing style because its not taught in school... ^_^ SMILE ALWAYS...

Those three dots are called an ellipsis (...) They are used to indicate a pause or to indicate that something has been omitted. As much as possible I use the ellipsis for its proper use.
• Philippines

hi magojordan... wow thanks for the information...its now called ellipsis... anyways...i think we can still call it the dot dot dot style since i am talking about style of writing not the symbol of writing used...make sense huh?! SMILE ALWAYS...^_^

Hi, metal_monkee. It is like a fill in the blank type of thing, as for me it is. I use this sentence formation because I want someone to fill in the blanks while they try to figure out what I am trying to say.
