do you have to wash your newly bought dress/shirt before wearing them?

I never normally do but after reading these posts I definitely will be from now on! I'd never really thought about the fact that loads of other people could have tried the clothing on before I bought it, or it could have been collecting dust sitting on the clothes rails in the shops. I'm totally washing everything I buy from now on.

Earlier I used to wear my new clothes without washing them but looking at the hygiene part of it I now wash it before wearing them.Still I do not wash my silk stuff.

well it depends on what kind of clothes they are, usually I like to wear them without wash but if there are seen to have been in some sample line and probably used for other people just to check out it and there is not more that I have to bought so I have to bought the one that probably was tested for other people I would to wash it very well, I have a friend that like to wash all her clothes because she is like allergic to new clothes, she can't wear a new piece of clothes because she would get pimples on all his body, anyway I think it depends in the person too, usually I don't even wash the clothes after to wear if they are not dirty, I don't like to wasted my time washing clothes if they are enough clean to be wear again.

Hi singlepixel! I guess it depends where I bought the dress or clothes and if it is still in in its proper package or plastic and not on the rack. If I bought it in a first class boutique/shop, I would not really mind not washing it but if I just bought the clothes on an open public store, I will have to wash it first. Take care and God bless!

Yes, for me newly bought clothes should be washed first before using. First is because of hygiene reason and second, I don't like the smell of the new clothes. The smell is very obvious if you just wear them without washing.

I have to because it's itchy to wear a newly-bought dress or shirt without washing them first. It's not comfortable for me.

I prefer to so that I get the fabric sizing out of the item. It makes me itch. I also like to shop the second hand stores and I always wash the items I buy before I wear them.

well hygiene says I should, specially those bought off the racks in shopping malls. After all so many ladies before me have ‘gone thru’ them but ummmmmmmmm I don’t do it you know. Somehow I feel the new ‘feel’ of the cloth will be washed away along with the germs

sometimes i do sometimes i don't....i don't when i am in a hurry and just bought the clothes..i feel comfortable somehow but there are some clothes that made me itch

I do washed it before wearing it..love to put fabric conditioner..much comfortable if i iron it..

no i don't. i picked up the habit from my mother. she makes sure that newly bought clothes are washed and ironed before wearing. hygienic purposes and to have nice smelling clothes are her primary reasons.

Of course you should. Who knows what kind of critters had been crawling there while it was still on the store. Well it's playing on the safe side, so wash your newly bought clothes before wearing them.
