Is he being paranoid?

Yesterday there was a big thunderstorm and my dad started freaking out, yelling for us to get away from the windows and unplug all the computers. I told him he was being paranoid, but my mother chimed in and agreed with him, stating that thousands of people are killed by lightening every year. Do you believe this or are they just being paranoid?

Your father is trying to make sure none of your family members get hurt. Rather than saying that he is paranoid you should at least appreciate it.
