I am in the process of starting a resort in a Hill station that happens to be very famous in India and i would like it very much if you guys told me how and what are the things that would help me do my best in this Project. Let it be architecture, Customer care or whatever comes to mind..imagine it's yours and on a 5 acre land and now give me ideas about it. I have thought of making a 10 double room cottage to start with and a diner with a recreation room with affordable costs. drop in your ideas and advice.. thanks

There are a variety of things that make a resort successful, and they all fall into different categories. Customer service is definitely a category that you want to pay close attention too. What separates your resort from the thousands of other resorts out there? Do you cater to your customers whims, offer a specialty service such as ensuring the room is clean, cool or warm depending on the needs, lit and ready to welcome it's resident for the weekend? Unique Recreational Facilities - What is in the area of your resort that you can turn into an attraction for your customers? Horseback riding, sites to see, guided tours, find the special things in the area of your resort that make it an ideal place for someone to vacation there. Cost - Ensure that the cost of your amenities actually supports the sustainability of your resort as well as the attraction itself. For instance, someone will not pay $50 for dinner if the food is not worth $50 or the experience/atmosphere is not worth the money. Good luck with your project!

Thanks rantingqueen... Well i have made a list of things and the first thing that is highlighted is the Customer management. I am keeping a small gym area for folks who would like to spend more than a weekend. The recreation includes board games for kids such as monopoly, carom and cricket as it is a big place.. For adults i want to make a library an internet center that can be useful for their work purpose as well.. And a tennis or a football court and there is bird spotting and trekking. And yes the self check in system so when the guest comes all tired he doesn't have to wait up at the reception.. he can just take his key and be escorted to his room and check himself in as the register will be brought to him once he has settled themselves in.. Besides all this the food is going to be the major attraction too cos i love giving barbeque's and there will be a born fire going in the evening's. A regular set menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner and a-la carte.. A real diner... just curl up and dine.. But i need a little lost when it comes to the whole thing, finance is no issue neither is Architecture as i want to make it a cottage style duplex independent room. it's just the details i feel i am not there.. anyway... thanks for your advice and do drop in if anymore.. smiles
