That Barak Obama has advanced so far and possibly going to win the election is a cause for congratulation to the people of AMerica . They have proven their claim to be truly liberal in nature despite their sad past of practice of "Slavery" and racism . The people of America have not smelt the mid name "Hussein" between Barak and Obama . Very few AMerican have uttered a word questioning his race or religion . Had they not been liberal and matured enough , they would certainly tagged the middle name "Hussein" with terrorism . I have personally been wishing his win as the next president of USA but at the same time was fearful of his loss because of his race and religion which is very closely linked to international terrorism . But having read the discussions on him in this forum i.e, Mylot , i am hopeful and eager to see him winning .

The Republicans have made sure America knows every little detail about this man. So much that some Obama supporters still believe he is Muslim, yet it doesn't affect their vote. I cannot wait until the republicans lose their grip of our goverment. This is the time for liberals. We need to step up and take our country back. I'm glad to hear other people in other countries, realizing this is what America is all about. Now we have the chance to not only prove that we are what we say we are, but we have the chance to actually do what is necessary.... It appears the rest of the world loves Liberal America better than Conservative America. Lets kick the Good Ole Boy system right into the gutter!

I am saddened by it, and I don't want your congratulations. It has nothing to do with his being black. If I thought he were qualified, he would get my vote regardless of his color, gender, ethnicity, religion, whatever. He is not. Those that are voting for him merely because they think it's time that this country has a man of color in the oval office are not to be commended. I've just written and submitted an article on this very subject for Associated Content, but it hasn't been published yet.

Thanks for your well thought out response . If anybody considers somebody unsuitable for a specific position it is her or his prudence not to vote for him . You are in your right position both in disagreeing to vote for Obama and in expressing your neutrality as to color or religion etc. In the same line , of course , if anybody decides to vote for Obama only because of his color or religion it would be a blunder because it would be a waste of voting power . But still I hope Obama will win . Thanks.

I think you're right. And it scares me.

One must admit that America has come a long way since the days when the membership of the dreaded KKK (Ku Klux Klan) was more than 5 million people across America at one time officially, and discrimination against African Americans was rampant! In those days, the possibility of an African American President was unimaginable. This certainly reflects the change in mindset and the sense of equality and freedom among present day Americans. So, I personally appreciate Obama for what he has achieved till now and what he promises for the future In an age when we are moving towards a global economy, the economic policies of America are the forerunners of the things to come. We cannot Judge now, what change his policies will bring in the US and in the world economy.

Thank you. I an Canadian, but I agree with you. There are some people that have problems with oBama because of race (I don't support them) and others who have problems with his campaign as they would with anyone, not because of race just because of agreement, but I totally agree with you. May he win if he is truly the best person for the job, without a thought of race, gender, or aything else. I agree that it's wonderul that he has avanced so ar.

I don't care about his race or his religion. I could care less what his middle name is. I am concerned about people voting for him because of his race, etc. There's a lot more to being a President than looking good on camera.

Actually there have been emails saying he's muslim and just smearing him in any way they could. But you're right, for the most part the people of the U.S have not accepted these smear campaigns against him. I think the funniest thing is how people are trying to portray him as an elitist. It's ridiculous, the man grew up herding goats! I think you would be an idiot to vote for Mccain. McCain as president would be like 4 more years of Bush (and that's the last thing we need).
