Have you ever forgotten how to cook a certain dish?

This happened to me today.
I make one mean soup (according to my dad) and he decided he wanted soup today. Now I haven't made any type of soup in over a month and it is also a recipe which I created myself and never wrote down.
The preparation and ingredients are simple but I sorta forgot the order in which I add in each ingredient. This is essential for all the vegetables and chicken to be cooked to just the right texture. Luckily as I was chopping all the ingredients it came back to me little by little and now I have my soup boiling away on the stove and just about to be done.
The funny part is I almost forgot about one ingredient cause it isn't my favourite thing to eat but my dad likes it. It doesn't change the flavour of the soup (to my knowledge cause I always made it like this) but I just don't eat the ingredient itself.
MMM...it's smelling delish over there...
So have you ever forgotten how to cook one of your regular recipes? Which one and why?

Hey teka!
I know, so crazy that we forget. I mean exact measurements are one thing but generally forgetting an ingredient is a whole other story. I am glad you got to make your cake though!

I do mix up a few of my holiday recipes as I make them from memory, but nothing that can't be repaired, thank goodness.. Other than that most of my reciles are etched in my memory and short of alzheimers, I pretty much remember them.. I can smell the soup now, it smells great, save me a bowl of it..

Hi Donna,
I love recipes which can be salvaged like that! I have alot of the recipes I use written down, typed out or printed out. But recipes for local dishes or my own homemade stuff are in my head,
Well, I would save you a bowl if I could! But it is all gone now, but don't worry. I plan on making some later in the week, I'll definitely save you a bowl then!

Hi there, I don't cook a lot and not either an expert one..Last 2 weeks ago, I just feel that I miss eating "pansit", Filipino style, I tried to remember the way mom cook it but it's too blurred in my memory, I decided to find if there's any video at you tube about it, luckily, I found several and end up cooking!LOL! Thanks for the site!
