I was talking with my boss his anniversary is on Saturday, I asked him what he was getting his wife and he said a card. That’s IT!! He said that he doesn’t need to buy her any thing because after 28 years they have every thing and if either on of them wants some thing they go buy it. So he just buys her a card. I told him he should get her some thing – really surprise her, maybe jewelry or perfume.
What are your thoughts? Should he buy her some thing or is just a card good enough? Does 28 years of marriage really leave wanting for nothing more??

We will be married for 29 years this year and I don't expect a gift either. After all those years it seem as if you don't really need or want anything. Important anniversaries like the 25th, 30th, 40th, etc I do expect a gift - I received an anniversary gold/diamond band for our 25th. I'm not sure if it is good or bad for a couple to not exchange gifts, I just think it depends upon the type of people the couple are.

Thats what my boss was saying. I guess because I am still pretty new married - July 17th will be our 4 year I still expect some thing other then a card. I guess it doesn't really matter I just thought after all those years it would become more special to give some thing because it takes a lot of thought.
