This is what i heard from my co-worker,her seatmate in the office could not go to work because of a broken pieces of false teeth, since he can't talk without a teeth in front and he can deal as a sales person without a teeth so he did not go to work. Terrible isn't it.

My daughter works in a small nursing home. Last weekend the girl that was supposed to relieve her called in 15 minutes before she was supposed to be there. Said her car had broke down on the way to work so she wouldn't be there on time, about an hour later she calls back and says her husband is on the way to pick her up and they are going to get the car fixed but she hasn't got a way to get to work. (gosh she was on the way to work and her husband can pick her up but has to take her home instead of bringing her on into work?) My daughter ended up having to work 24 hours straight, (they work 12 hour shifts). She found out two days later that the girl had made it to work at 7AM the next day saying she had taken her car into the dealership and got it fixed the day before. I guess she didn't realize how stupid it sounded since the car had broke down on a sunday morning and it's illegal for car dealerships to be open on Sundays. Mind you she didn't say her husband fixed the car she said she took it into a local car dealership and got it fixed.

silly excuses seem to be very popular in nursing homes come to think of it. my sister works in one. not for elderly but just people with disabilities and mental difficulties. the excuses iv heard from there lol. but how do they get away with it.

Well I think the worst one that I heard of is that a heavy book (e.g encyclopedia, or a large dictionary) fell on their back. I really don't know if that counts as a valid excuse.
